We had a reading comprehension test when I was in the third grade. I was VERY surprised to find that at the age of 8 I was reading at a college sophomore level. I did well in college (DVM degree) but I didn't think I was THAT far ahead of my peers. That test certainly opened my eyes. I'm sad thinking that most kids today don't read, except for snippets found in Memes. Don't even get me started on Grammar and Spelling...
