Move over, Grover Cleveland. You’ve just been joined in the history books by the billionaire from Queens.
Donald J. Trump is projected to return to the White House. Believe it or not, after all he has been put through, the guy won. We didn’t have to wait days to know who our next president will be; we only had to wait a couple hours past midnight.
By the time the counting is done, Trump may have 312 electoral votes and the popular vote.
How did Trump win such a decisive victory? Especially since every pollster insisted the race was a dead heat even throughout the afternoon and into the evening?
The so-called Blue Wall of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan that would supposedly give Kamala Harris the presidency collapsed with a roar heard around the world.
That’s where the Electoral College victory was won. But on the personal level, Donald Trump drew together a new coalition of voters. He attracted far more black voters, Hispanic voters, Arab-American voters, and young voters than a Republican has seen in decades.
Also, Trump’s outreach to men worked. He won men 54-44 while women went for Harris 53-45.
The former and future president also drew into his campaign some of the nation’s best, brightest, and most innovative and independent minds, including Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Tulsi Gabbard. Then there’s J.D. Vance. Some questioned the wisdom of Trump selecting the first-term senator from Ohio as his running mate, but Vance’s barnstorming through the Midwest and Pennsylvania and his virtuoso dismantling of hostile reporters proved invaluable — especially when compared to the antics and record of the self-described “knucklehead” Tim Walz.
In the end though, no one should discount the power of prayer in deciding this election — and for that matter, putting Trump’s head at just the perfect angle at just the perfect time to thwart what would have been a perfect kill shot that summer day in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The president-elect himself noted God’s role in sparing him for the task the Lord has at hand.
Trump Addresses the Nation
Trump came onstage at 2:30 in the morning to address his supporters and the American people. “Look what happened! Is this crazy?” he asked.
“I will not rest until I deliver the strong, safe, and prosperous nation for our children,” he declared. “This will truly be the golden age of America. Today will be remembered as the day America took...
