Ancel Keyes and the LDL hoax got started when Keyes presented the "7 Countries Study" but that study was fraud. He actually got data on 23 countries, cherry picked the 7 that agreed with his conclusion for the study and threw out the rest.
I can tell you that, as an engineer, if I did that with test data on something critical to the safety of airline flight, I'd be rotting in jail. The same should have happened to Keyes. For starters.
