JFK did, in fact, drag us into Vietnam. I am old enough to remember the death of the Diems earlier that year. The escalation was mostly on Johnson's watch, but JFK was neither saint nor sage.
You are correct. Kennedy paved the way for US involvement in Vietnam.
Plus, Eisenhower refused to get euchered into an Asian land war, and the CIA didn't off him.
