The Democratic Party is in a Socialist Spiral

The “progressive” Left has put together an "Saturday Night Live" sketch of presidential campaign promises, and they are just getting started. The policy platform has become a twisted parody of itself: abolish private healthcare, enact 90 percent marginal income tax rates, and entertain the idea of federalizing huge swaths of our election system. Welcome to the new Democratic Party.

Each contender is so desperate to out-left the others, the party has completely abandoned middle America and taken a swan dive into an unabashed socialist agenda.

Democrats have a long tradition of wanting to reduce the rights of the individual and increase federal control over nearly every aspect of our lives. However, even the most die-hard progressive would admit the direction of the party has taken a sharp left turn.

Socialism used to be a dirty word in our politics, but not anymore. Democratic politicians saw the wave of grassroots enthusiasm in 2016 surrounding the self-declared socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and they were quick to jump on the bandwagon.

Leading the charge of opportunistic socialism is Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. In the rare moments when Warren takes a break from lecturing us on her family history, she likes to go on a diatribe about the inherent evil of wealthy people. She recently suggested a massive tax on people with more than $50 million in assets but declined to share the details of the plan.

The Warren plan would include weaponizing the IRS once again to target a percentage of the country paying the tax with a mandatory “audit quota” every year. What percentage that is, we don’t know yet.

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., told attendees of a CNN televised town hall that she plans to abolish private health insurance and enact a government-funded single-payer healthcare system. She did not share the details for how this plan will address our existing $122 trillion in U.S. unfunded liabilities, including federal debt, Medicare, Social Security, and federal employee and veteran benefits.

Not even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., proposed 70 percent income tax could pay off that kind of invoice. Of course, figuring out how to pay for these programs is a problem for another day. Telling progressive voters what they want to hear in any given political moment costs...

Comedian’s Spoof Video Showing What Smollett ‘Really Did’ That Night Is Hilarious

While various elements of the Jussie Smollett case are very serious, some have pointed out some of the humor in the fact that his tale sounded like a badly written script.

Comedian Dale Cover might have set the gold standard with a video he posted to YouTube video on Tuesday that purports to tell “The Truth About Jussie Smollett from Empire.”

“Was it a hate crime or a hoax,” the YouTube description reads. “In this video, we got breaking news showing the real story. We find out just who the two Nigerian’s (sic) were and their alleged role in the staged attack.”

By invoking a law regulating foreign agents to pursue prosecution of former Trump campaign officials, special counsel Robert Mueller opened the door to more intense scrutiny of some U.S. environmental groups, according to legal analysts who say China and Russia use such groups to influence America’s energy policy.
But these legal analysts said they also see a danger that Mueller’s investigation could set a precedent for the Justice Department to “selectively enforce” the Foreign Agents Registration Act in a manner that undermines the rule of law and potentially jeopardizes national security.

The Trump administration, they say, should closely examine the relationship between environmental advocacy groups and foreign governments that are considered strategic competitors of the U.S.

“If the Mueller probe has any real benefit, it is that it opened the door for the Justice Department to employ FARA as a basis to investigate green groups that are undermining our country and aiding socialist/communist regimes,” lawyer Mark Fitzgibbons told The Daily Signal.

Because these same environmental groups persistently lobby for policy changes to restrict U.S. energy use and the projection of U.S. military power, the groups may operate at the direction and encouragement of hostile foreign actors, Fitzgibbons and other reform proponents argue.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act, which predates World War II, requires anyone who acts as an agent of foreign principals “in a political or quasi-political capacity” to disclose that relationship periodically, as well as “activities, receipts, and disbursements in support of those activities,”according to the Justice Department.

But because FARA has not been strictly enforced, little case history and precedent exist for investigations into the actions of possible foreign agents who decline to disclose their activities, Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a Washington-based nonprofit government watchdog, told The Daily Signal in a phone interview.

Americans and their elected representatives have been deprived of the openness and transparency they need to evaluate the political activism and legal tactics of environmental advocacy groups, Fitton said.

‘Selectively Enforced’

The disclosure requirements of the Foreign Agents Registration Act explicitly state that information made available through registration would help ensure that citizens and officials can get the specifics they need to evaluate the activities of anyone who registers “in light of their function as foreign agents.”

Rosenstein Denies “Silent Coup” to Oust President Trump

Former FBI Director Andrew McCabe revealed that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had discussed wire tapping the president, a revelation that analysts and Sara Carter suggests was a “silent coup” to oust President Trump.

In a 60 Minutes interview that aired Sunday, McCabe said the two hoped to invoke the 25th amendment to oust the President from the White House. The Former FBI Director has been touring the media circuit to promote his new book “The Threat”. Rosenstein has pushed back on allegations of wire tapping the president.

Moreover, McCabe told NPR, “I invite the committee, or any other committee on the Hill … to ask themselves why is it two of the highest ranking officials in the Department of Justice and the FBI in May of 2017 had to even consider the fact that the president of the United States might pose a national security risk to this country.”

The “Silent Coup” Attempt

Carter, who has called the action a “silent coup” since 2018, reacted to the news telling Dr. Sebastian Gorka, “Americans have to be so concerned over this because these are armed agents of the federal government that are attempting and discussing invoking the 25th amendment on a president of the United States.”

Carter spoke to a number of law enforcement sources who confirmed that senior officials within the FBI had operated with extraordinary bias. According to Carter, others should be investigated and a thorough investigation by the DOJ may drag in more senior Obama administration officials that instigated the baseless two-year investigation into Trump and his campaign.
