Legal immigrant professor says Illegal immigrants can hurt US economy; now he’s on the chopping block

Thanks to left-wing insanity run amok, it’s now apparently socially unacceptable and racist for even a legal immigrant from China to complain about the drawbacks of illegal immigration.

Meet Fang Zhou, an associate professor of history at Georgia Gwinnett College near Atlanta who’s unabashedly opposed to illegal immigration:

He recently posted some online remarks about illegal immigration and politics in general that piqued the attention of Democrat state Rep. Bee Nguyen. In a tweet posted Wednesday, she shared a screenshot of some of these remarks and complained of his alleged bigotry.

“While we celebrate the passage of the Dream Act, this @GeorgiaGwinnett professor uses hostile terms ‘ghetto thugs,’ ‘libtards,’ & spreads false narratives about immigrants,” she wrote. “Are these the values supported by Georgia Gwinnett College?”

While the full context of his quotes remain unclear, it appears Zhou had been rebutting someone who’d complained about his politically incorrect rhetoric on illegal immigration.

“I am against political correctness. I speak truth to power in class and my students learn about the financial drain of illegal immigration on the economy and the high crime rates of illegal immigrants. My students are ‘woke’ and are overwhelmingly against illegal immigration after taking my class,” he wrote.

Speaking with the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution afterward, she suggested that Zhou should be fired. Pushing for the termination or deplatforming of conservatives is a common left-wing tactic.

“I have concerns about him teaching those things in a classroom,” she said, adding that 70 percent of Georgia Gwinnett College’s students are either black, Asian or Hispanic.

It’s unclear what the students’ race has to do with illegal immigration …

“The jury saw that Oberlin College went out of their way to harm a good family and longtime business in their community for no real reason, and the jury said we aren’t going to tolerate that in our community anymore,” Owen Rarric, an attorney for the Gibsons, told Legal Insurrection.

The award, which could triple at Tuesday’s hearing on punitive damages, came as a warning to universities that encourage social-justice activism as student protests spill from the campus to the local community.

“The verdict sends a strong message that colleges and universities cannot simply wind up and set loose student social justice warriors and then wash their hands of the consequences,” said Cornell Law School professor William Jacobson, who runs the conservative Legal Insurrection website.

Bakery owners said they lost business after Oberlin students held protests accusing them of discrimination. The student Senate passed a resolution claiming Gibson’s had “a long history of racial profiling,” and Dean of Students Meredith Raimondo was accused of passing out an anti-Gibson’s flier.

Students boycotted the bakery, while the college cut off and then resumed its contract for baked goods.

Oberlin argued it was not responsible for the students’ actions. Meanwhile, the three students pleaded guilty to shoplifting and aggravated trespass while issuing statements absolving the bakery of racism.

In 2017, Gibson’s sued the college for libel; tortious influence with business relationships and contracts, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, culminating in the nearly month-long trial in Elyria, Ohio.

“The students eventually pleaded guilty, but not before large protests and boycotts intended to destroy the bakery and defame the owners,” Mr. Jacobson said. “The jury appears to have accepted that Oberlin College facilitated the wrongful conduct against the bakery.”

In a Friday email to the college community, Oberlin general counsel Donica Thomas Varner said the college was “disappointed” with the verdict and would determine how to proceed.

She insisted that the college and Ms. Raimondo “worked to ensure that students’ freedom of speech was protected and that the student demonstrations were safe and lawful.”

“As we have stated, colleges cannot be held liable for the independent actions of their students,” Ms. Varner said. “Institutions of higher education are obligated to protect freedom of speech on their campuses and respect students’ decisions to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights. Oberlin College acted in accordance with these obligations.”

After New Zealand banned people from having guns in reaction to the terrible shooting in March, almost everyone is refusing to obey the law.

In March, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the “first tranche” in a number of moves to restrict the rights of New Zealand citizens to protect themselves with firearms. This move was in direct response to the horrific murders that unfolded on March 15. Coincidentally, this is the exact move the terrorist who carried out these attacks had hoped for and predicted. The good news is, however, that most citizens are refusing to turn in their guns.

The terrorist who murdered 50 people earlier this year was engaging in a classic propaganda of the deed in which he predicted—accurately—that his murder would spark the restriction of gun rights. Lawmakers took his bait.

“On 15 March, our history changed forever. Now, our laws will too,” said Ardern as she carried out the will of this terrorist. “We are announcing action today on behalf of all New Zealanders to strengthen our gun laws and make our country a safer place.”

“What we’re banning today are the things used in last Friday’s attack,” she said, adding: “It’s about all of us, it’s in the national interest and it’s about safety.”

According to a new report from the NZ Herald, however, the citizens feel “safer” by holding on to their guns.

It is estimated that roughly 250,000 people own the recently-banned semi-automatic weapons in New Zealand. Estimates show that these 250,000 gun owners — who were turned into criminals overnight by their government — own around 300,000 firearms.

Since the government attempted to disarm these 250,000 people, only 530 guns have been turned in.

Government officials are attributing the lack of gun turn-ins to citizens wanting to be properly compensated for their weapons. However, the complexity of this situation is likely far different.

“If they are being serious about their considerations and ensuring that there is fair and reasonable compensation, then firearm owners will wait a bit longer to make sure it is just and it is fair when it is received,” Nicole McKee, Secretary of the Council of Licensed Firearm Owners, told the NZ Herald.

CNN anchor Victor Blackwell admitted Saturday morning on “New Day” that the United States got “almost everything it wanted” in the U.S.-Mexico trade deal that was announced Friday.

The “New Day” coverage began with CNN White House correspondent Sarah Westwood describing the White House’s intention to “frame this as a victory for President Trump,” who reversed his original plans to impose a tariff on Mexican imports in response to the country’s concessions, particularly “stepped-up immigration enforcement efforts.”

Funds for illegal caravans also came from UK, Mexican officials say

Mexican tax officials froze the assets of 26 individuals and entities reportedly tied to human trafficking or to funding illegal Central American migrant caravans heading for the US.

Thousands of migrants from the so-called “northern triangle” were funded to trek through Mexico to the US border. The funding for the migrant caravans allegedly came from Britain, Africa, the US and Central America, Breitbart reported.

Mexico’s Finance and Tax Secretariat (SHCP) announced that they would freeze accounts after an investigation by their Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF).

The operation tracked financial movements from October 2018 to pinpoint the sources of funding for the illegal migrant caravans. According to their statement, the UIF identified suspects that had been involved in questionable international financial transactions from the cities of Chiapas and Queretaro at the time that the migrant caravans were moving through.

Based on information gained from tracking the movements of the caravans, Mexican authorities were able to trace the source of the funds to the US, England, Cameroon, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, the statement noted.

Authorities did not name the individuals or the entities involved, but said that they would be filing complaints with Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office for prosecution.

Mexican officials have been meeting with their US counterparts to discuss tariffs as a punitive measure over the country’s careless approach to border control.

In the latest development, Mexico has agreed to host more migrants seeking asylum in US and increase enforcement on southern border, staving off import tariffs on Mexican goods, officials confirmed.

President Donald Trump had threatened to impose up to 25 percent on all imported Mexican goods if the country does not control crossings at the US-Mexico border. The tariffs were set to go in effect on Monday, but the president tweeted late on Friday that both governments had reached a deal. Tariffs have now been “indefinitely suspended”.

Negotiating lasted for three days in Washington DC, with businesses such as German auto giant Volkswagen bracing for the Monday deadline. Volkswagen operates several car manufacturing plants in Mexico. A tax on all Mexican goods would have had enormous economic implications for businesses as Americans bought $378bn worth of Mexican imports last year, led by cars and auto parts.
