Ninety miles from the South Eastern tip of the United States, Liberty has no stead. In order for Liberty to exist and thrive, Tyranny must be identified, recognized, confronted and extinguished.

BREAKING, Trump Administration Creates New Rule To Drastically Cut Asylum Claims
The Trump administration on Monday said it would take steps to make it more difficult for immigrants arriving on the southern border to seek asylum in the United States, putting the onus on them to ask for shelter in other countries.
The Department of Homeland Security, in a statement issued with the Department of Justice, said the interim rule would set a “new bar” for immigrants “by placing further restrictions or limitations on eligibility for aliens who seek asylum in the United States.”
The proposal would make it tougher for applicants who did not apply for protection from persecution or torture where it was available in at least one “third country” through which they traveled en route to the United States.
The Trump administration wants to slow down a flow of asylum seekers arriving at the U.S.-Mexican border. Most are Central Americans who have traveled through Mexico and Guatemala on the way to the border, though some come from as far as Africa.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan said the initiative would “help reduce a major ‘pull’ factor driving irregular migration to the United States.”
Republicans applauded the move. Representative Doug Collins, the senior Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said it “helps return integrity to the asylum system by focusing resources on those most at risk of persecution.”
But the administration’s action was immediately challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union. “The Trump administration is trying to unilaterally reverse our country’s legal and moral commitment to protect those fleeing danger. This new rule is patently unlawful and we will sue swiftly,” said Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project.
And it was unclear how other countries through which migrants pass would react. Guatemala announced on Sunday that it was postponing a visit to Washington by President Jimmy Morales, saying it was rejecting its potential designation as a “safe third country” for asylum seekers.
U.S. Attorney General William Barr said in the statement that while the “United States is a generous country,” it was being “completely overwhelmed” by the hundreds of thousands of “aliens along the southern border.” Many of them, he said, are seeking “meritless asylum claims.”
The measure is intended to take effect with the rule’s publication on Tuesday, according to the statement.
Republicans in Congress this year have stepped up their calls for legislation making it more difficult for undocumented immigrants to...

Kenya: Muslim leaders oppose new anti-terror law
In the U.S., we regularly see Muslim groups opposing counterterror measures, and this story shows that this is an international phenomenon. Muslim groups in the West consistently assert that they oppose terrorism (without ever specifically defining what it is), but often also oppose any attempt to do anything about it.
“Muslims lobby oppose school anti-terror law,” by Julius Otieno, The Star(Kenya), July 12, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Muslim leaders have rejected the proposed amendments to the anti-terrorism law that requires teachers and parents to watch over their children to ensure they are not radicalised.
They poked holes in the Prevention of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2018, saying the proposals only seeks to ‘criminalise’ parents and headteachers.
Led by Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims chairman Yussuf Nzibo, the leaders presented their memorandum to the clerk of the National Assembly Michael Sialai. The memorandum was received by the House’s legal director Jane Nyaboke.
They said the bill, sponsored by nominated Senator Naomi Waqo, violates the Constitution and will hurt the war on terrorism.
The bill state parents would be responsible for monitoring the activities of their children after school hours and during weekends and holidays to ensure they are not lured into extremist groups.
It mandates the parents to immediately report to the school or police if their children go missing.
The proposals also require school heads to immediately report to the National Counter Terrorism Center or police if a student disappears and is believed to have joined a terrorist group.
School managers will be required to keep an updated record of all students and ensure that teachers and other staff are trained to recognise vulnerable students likely to be drawn into radicalisation.
School regulators will establish ways to spot, deradicialise and reintegrate students found to have been involved in...

Trade War Winning! Companies Are Leaving China to Avoid the 25% Tariff
"CHEXIT" |
China’s economy “expanded at the slowest rate in nearly 30 years in the 2nd quarter,” says Axios’ Courtenay Brown, and the reason behind the decline is “heightened U.S.-China trade tensions and weakening trade demand from other fragile economies.”
The Chinese government reported that its second-quarter GDP was just 6.2 percent, a .2 percentage point drop from the previous quarter and “the weakest pace of growth since the government started releasing quarterly data in 1992.”
The trade war is hurting China’s involvement with U.S. companies as well, the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Companies that make Crocs shoes, Yeti beer coolers, Roomba vacuums, and GoPro cameras are producing goods in other countries to avoid U.S. tariffs [on imports] from China,” according to the Wall Street Journal.
Countries like Vietnam, India, Taiwan, and Malaysia are all benefiting from China’s stumbles. The longer this U.S.-China battle drags on, the more manufacturing infrastructure becomes permanent in these other countries.
They may not be returning to the USA but they are leaving China for the long-term or forever. China’s bizarre form of capitalism isn’t all that enlightened if they think their approach will work.
Some believe the Democrats are encouraging them to wait it out but they could come up with this on their own. If they think the President will leave office in 2020, they can wait for Democrats to give them a deal that...
Chinese Admiral: Solve South China Sea Dispute By Sinking Navy Aircraft Carriers
Rear Admiral Lou Yuan, deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, has told an audience in Shenzhen that the ongoing disputes over the ownership of the East and South China Seas could be resolved by sinking two U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.
Admiral Lou gave a wide-ranging speech on the state of Sino-U.S. relations. As reported by New Zealand Herald, the high-profile, hawkish military commentator reportedly declared the current trade spat was “definitely not simply friction over economics and trade,” but was instead a “prime strategic issue”.
His speech, delivered on Dec. 20 to the 2018 Military Industry List summit, declared that China’s new and highly capable anti-ship ballistic and cruise missiles were more than capable of hitting U.S. Navy carriers, despite them being at the centre of a ‘bubble’ of defensive escorts.
“What the United States fears the most is taking casualties,” Admiral Lou declared.
He said the loss of one super carrier would cost the U.S. the lives of 5000 service men and women. Sinking two would double that toll.
“We’ll see how frightened America is.”
In his speech, he said there were ‘five cornerstones of the United States’ open to exploitation: their military, their money, their talent, their voting system — and their fear of adversaries.

Admiral Lou, who holds an academic military rank — not a service role — said China should “use its strength to attack the enemy’s shortcomings. Attack wherever the enemy is afraid of being hit. Wherever the enemy is weak …”
