Immigration Expert: Government Program Incentivizes Employers to Discriminate Against Citizen College Grads

David North, a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and noted scholar on immigration and its influence on domestic policies, said at the National Press Club this week that a government program cooked up during the George W. Bush administration and put into place through a federal regulation encourages U.S. businesses to hire foreign instead of citizen college graduates.

North also said at the panel discussion, hosted by CIS, that millions of dollars a year is diverted from helping Americans to benefiting F-1 student visa holders and the American companies that hire them.

The students, North said, get to work for one year or more at an American business, and the business that hires them gets a discount under the Optional Practical Training (OPT) protocol that allows them not to pay certain payroll taxes for their non-immigrant, non-citizen employees.

“You shouldn’t take money from America’s elderly, give it to fat cat corporations so that they can discriminate against Americans,” North said. “I don’t think that’s a very good idea.”

Colleges and universities are also eager to accept foreign students because of the money their enrollment brings in, both as students and alumni.

At any given time, experts estimate that more than one million students from foreign countries are studying in the United States.

North wrote about OTP for CIS in 2015:
The program that converts foreign college graduates back to foreign students by a wave of a bureaucratic wand had these negative impacts on residents of the United States:
• It denied American workers more than 430,000 jobs during the years 2009-2013; and
• It removed $4 billion from the Social Security and Medicare trust funds.

In 2017, CIS explained how OPT works in reality:

OPT is an example of the administrative state run amok. Instead of law coming from Congress, we have law coming from bureaucrats working hand-in-hand with lobbyists. OPT also illustrates the slippery-slope problem of regulation. Work on student visas started innocently as an integral part of a course of study to give foreign students an experience not available in their home country, but eventually was transformed into a full-blown guestworker program whose stated purpose is to...

G7 Surprise: Donald Trump Announces Trade Deal In Principle Agreement with Japan

President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal in principal with Japan on Sunday, during the G7 summit of world leaders in France.

“This is a tremendous deal for the United States,” Trump said after announcing the deal with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. “It’s a, really, tremendous deal for our farmers and agricultural ranchers, and also involves other things.”

The two leaders agreed on a deal in principle, which they expected would be signed during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.

After withdrawing from the proposed Trans-Pacific partnership, Trump pursued a bi-lateral deal with Japan since becoming president. The president developed a close personal friendship with Abe and continued pressing for a better deal for the United States.

Trump hailed the deal as a big step for American farmers, as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the private sector would likely purchase new volumes of corn from the United States. Japan is also expected to cut tariffs on American beef, pork and agricultural products

“We believe that there is a need for us to implement emergency support measures for the Japanese private sector to have the early purchase of the American corn,” Abe said via a translator, noting that Japan was experiencing pests in their crops.

United States Trade Representative Robert Lightgizer said the deal included agriculture products, industrial tariffs, and...

A Most-Wanted American Jihadi Is Caught in Mexico at Migrant Center

Mohammed Azharuddin Chhipa was arrested at a migrant detention center in the Mexican town of Huehuetan.

On or about August 16, Mexico’s Federal Ministerial Police issued a rare and most curious public announcement: Mexican immigration had apprehended an American citizen who was wanted on an Interpol “blue notice” warrant on suspicion of supporting violent jihad and radical Islam on digital platforms.

The man, identified by Mexican media as “Mohammed Azharuddin Chhipa,” was found and arrested at a migrant detention center in the town of Huehuetan, just a few miles north of a heavily trammeled Guatemala border crossing for northward-moving U.S.-bound immigrants. Interpol blue notices are put out for international travelers that law enforcement suspects of involvement in a crime. The U.S. national security concern about Chhipa was such that Mexico deported him by air to Washington D.C., no doubt into the hands of FBI counterterrorism investigators.
ABSENT FURTHER DETAIL, AN OBSERVER WITH JUST THIS KNOWLEDGE MIGHT GUESS CHHIPA WAS CLANDESTINELY RETURNING HOME TO AMERICA ON THE MIGRANT TRAILS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST BATTLEFIELDS OF ISIS POSING AS A MIGRANT, AS DID MANY DOZENS OF EUROPEAN CITIZENS TO REACH THEIR HOME COUNTRIES. BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE, ACCORDING TO RELIABLE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY SOURCES.

I was told that Chhipa actually was outbound from the United States and on his way toward a foreign jihadist group to join them, at least initially to Egypt. The reason Chhipa was traveling southward away from the United States was because he was on the American “no-fly” list and couldn’t depart from an American airport. He decided to find one somewhere unnamed in Latin America where no fly lists are not a thing, sources told me.

Little else about the suspect, his itinerary, or the FBI investigation could be learned, not even whether the suspect’s name is real.

But while the idea that violent Islamic jihadists crossing into the United States at the southern border has inspired significant homeland security investment and programs, American jihadists have also sought to escape no-fly list restrictions and law enforcement detection by traveling southward over the same border to get to the jihad overseas.

For example, on October 4, 2016, two Milwaukee, Wisc., men on the no-fly list were arrested near San Angelo, Texas, on their way to Mexico as part of an alleged plan to join ISIS. Authorities who had been tracking the two as they traveled south to the Mexican border arrested Islamic...

German pools: ‘Daily attacks, insults, death threats’

A lifeguard of the Düsseldorf Rheinbad has reported on daily attacks, insults and death threats at the recreational facility.

“You often experience insults, threatening rape of your mother,” said swimming champion Vladimir Chetverik during a panel discussion in Düsseldorf, the Bild newspaper reported.

Chetverik is regularly threatened with words like, “I’ll kill you” or “I’ll set you on fire”.

In the Rheinbad, which had to be cleared several times in the past weeks due to migrant violence, there has been no problem with too many people. Rather, the problem is that there are “too many of the groups that cause us problems” present. Bans have not benefitted the clientele, Chetverik pointed out. “They climb over the fence or are simply not stopped at the cash register.”

During the discussion under the title “Value Dialogue”, a visitor to the outdoor pool, Knut Wesselmann, also had a say. The man was described by Deutschlandfunk as an older man in the second half of his life who had reported an incident in the pool, which he experienced as an eyewitness.

“I saw it, I was ten meters away when a group of 60 to 70 Black Africans ran here and finally the altercation,” Wesselmann said. For him this had been a threatening situation. His wife then said to him: “Let’s leave the Rheinbad immediately, because it is starting here now.”

Since June, there were repeated riots in the outdoor pool. The perpetrators were overwhelmingly foreigners. The pool had to be cleared several times. The city of Düsseldorf has imposed an identity card in an effort to stop the attacks at their pools.

The personal experience of the lifeguard and the pool visitors are completely contrary to a report by the ARD magazine Monitor. In this mainstream report, the head of the magazine, Georg Restle denied that the attacks were from migrants. It was rather a “youth” issue, a visitor is quoted as saying. A connection with migrants allegedly “could not be established”.

Düsseldorf Mayor Thomas Geisel (SPD) emphasized in the broadcast that the incidents had nothing to do with organised crime. Rather, these riots were “lively pool activities”, which now serves in cooking up an “unappetizing German national soup”.

The German Association of Journalists (DJV) has meanwhile rejected the proposal of the Integration Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Joachim Stamp (FDP), to always mention the origin of offenders. The association believes that the mention of the ethnic origin of criminal suspects and offenders in the media remain the exception and should not become the rule, said...
