When You Want To Skip School But Act Like You Don't...

Then blame others for you missing school.

This Is Why You Love Donald Trump

RUSH: Something else happened today. This is the reason you love Trump. During that press gaggle when he’s on the way to Marine One, the helicopter, to catch a plane to head down to The Villages here in Florida, he said, “You know, it’s not just Ukraine. The Chinese should be looking into Joe Biden too! I mean, there’s $1.5 billion of funny money there.

“The Chinese government ought to be looking into the Bidens.” Of course, the Washington media and everybody said, “Grab me the vapors! Oh, my God. Oh, my God.” Now the headlines are, “Trump is recruiting the Chinese! Trump is so bad! He asked the Ukrainians to do his dirty work, and that’s not enough. Now he’s asking the ChiComs to do his dirty work!”

This president, the point is, will not be intimidated. Whatever it is that upsets them, he doubles down on it, and gives ’em another dose of it while telling the truth.

RUSH: Let me have the president saying this stuff for you, because the Washington establishment is going nuts. They’re going nuts! “How could he do this?” But this is the stuff he does that just coalesces his support with his voters and his base. This is the stuff he does that they love. This is the pushback. This is the real guy who says what he really thinks unfiltered, that makes Trump so approachable and likable to so many people. So he’s on the White House lawn making his way to Marine One, the helicopter, for a trip down to Florida.

Along the way, he stops and talks to the media — and once again, we didn’t see the media. These people cannot get any facetime. It frustrates the heck out of ’em. All you can hear are the aircraft noises in the background, some white noise, and then these press people that sound like Romper Room at recess. So the first question was from John Roberts at Fox. “What exactly did you hope Zelensky would do about the Biden phone call?”

THE PRESIDENT: Start a major investigation into the Bidens. Likewise, China should start an investigation into the Bidens, because what happened to China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine. So I would say that President Zelensky, if it were me, I would recommend that they start an investigation into the Bidens because nobody has any doubt that they weren’t crooked. That was a crooked deal, a hundred percent. I’m sure that President Xi does not like being under that kind of scrutiny where billions of dollars is taken out of his country by a guy that just got kicked out of the Navy. He got kicked out of the Navy; all of the sudden he’s getting billions of dollars! You know what they call that? They call that a payoff.

RUSH: Now, the idea that Trump’s good friend President Xi doesn’t know about this is the kind of absurd. I’m sure that President Xi knew what he was buying. Remember this was the Obama administration when this happened. Biden takes his kid to see the ChiComs in December of, I think, 2010, and this is where they are lying about, “I never talked to my son about any of these deals,” and they’re pictured on the golf course with the Burisma CEO and CFO, and Biden’s introducing his son to the ChiCom leaders and so forth.

But we’re to believe here that none of this stuff ever came up. So it’s just magical that the ChiComs invested $1.5 billion in Joe’s son. “It’s just magical. What a confluence of events that...

How China Finally ‘Woke’ America

By: Victor Davis Hanson
In these times of near civil war, Americans agree on almost nothing. Yet sometime in 2019, almost all of America finally got “woke” on China.

For years, our leaders had yawned about Silk Road neo-imperialism in Africa and Asia, and gross abuses of human rights against Chinese religious minorities and political dissidents.

Almost every assumption Washington made, both by Democratic and Republican administrations, was logically flawed at best. And at worst, these calculations were a weird mix of conservative commercial greed, liberal political correctness, and shared screwball naivete.

American trade and political appeasement were never interpreted by Beijing as magnanimity to be reciprocated, but always as weakness to be exploited. It was always ludicrous to think that the more concessions on trade and human rights the United States gave, the more China would Westernize and begin to resemble America or an EU nation.

Even sillier was the old shibboleth that China’s embrace of capitalist reforms—as if by some unwritten, determinist economic law—would lead to constitutional government. But the ability to buy a new cellphone never ensures the right to vote for a candidate of one’s choice.

Instead, all China did was auction off large sections of its new and more efficient economy to crony communist pseudo-capitalists and corrupt provincial officials in order to modernize the country, beef up the military, warp the international trading system—and make itself very rich.

Why did America act in such a suicidal way on China?

Cheap Chinese labor and lax American laws motivated hundreds of U.S. corporations to shut down their domestic assembly plants and relocate to China. At least at first, they were free to pay substandard wages and were mostly unregulated.

Once American businesses got hooked on mega-profits, the Chinese government slowly started stealing their technology, infringing on copyrights and patents, dumping their own merchandise on the world market at prices below production costs, running up huge trade surpluses and manipulating their currency.

But by then, American corporations were so addicted to laissez-faire profit-making that they turned a blind eye and paid their hush money.

Universities cashed in too, both by setting up lucrative satellite campuses in China and admitting tens of thousands of Chinese citizens. These Chinese students paid full tuition (and sometimes premiums and surcharges), turning once cash-strapped campuses into profitable degree mills.

Most college deans and presidents simply ignored the dreadful human rights record of China, not to mention occasional expatriate espionage rings designed to steal engineering and...

BOOM: CRIME DROPS AS NUMBERS OF AR-15'S GROW

This week saw federal crime statistics released that showed a continued trend in the decline of violent crime while at the same time sales of AR-15s and similar rifles have grown

According to the latest annual statistics produced by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, violent crime declined 3.9 percent in 2018 when compared to the 2017 rate. This included a 12 percent drop in robbery offenses while murder and nonnegligent manslaughter offenses fell 6.2 percent. This is the second consecutive year of such decreases. Likewise, property crime decreased by 6.3 percent during the same time period.

Contrary to widespread sentiment in the media and from talking heads advocating gun control, rifles were used in only about 2 percent of homicides in 2018 (297 of 14,123), a figure dwarfed by more readily available knives, blunt objects hands, fists, feet, etc, which accounted for some 17 percent. Moreover, even that low figure for rifles was a 24 percent decline from the same data (390 of 15,195) noted in 2017.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation responded to the crime data from the Justice Department with some statistics of their own.

“Through 2016, there have been over 16 million modern sporting rifles in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Meanwhile, violent crime is declining,” noted NSSF. “The message is clear. Tragic criminal actions must be addressed. Banning certain types of firearms is not the answer.”
“There were an estimated 368.9 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in 2018, a rate that fell 3.9 percent when compared with the 2017 estimated violent crime rate and dropped 14.6 percent from the 2009 estimate.” The figures follow a 10-year trend to reduced crime rates at the same time sales of modern sporting rifles have been on the rise. Further, the trade group for the firearms industry points out that, from 1999 to 2017, fatal firearms accidents have declined by 41 percent according to figures from the CDC’s WISQARS Injury Database. During that same period, the group, with organizational partners and in conjunction with over 15,000 law enforcement agencies, has distributed 38 million firearm safety kits as part of...
