University changes tone, shutters Chinese Communist Party-funded Confucius Institute

Miami University in Ohio has announced that it will close its Chinese government-funded Confucius Institute in June.

Amid increased concerns over Chinese money in American universities, Miami University’s decision was particularly sudden, citing funding concerns. With the exception of senior staff, most of the Institute’s staffers are paid by the Chinese government, according to the Miami Student.

“I am very happy to see that Miami has made this move,” Miami University College Republicans Vice Chairman Collin Finn told Campus Reform.

“Our university’s administration has worked diligently to align our institution with state and national priorities, and this move exemplifies that commitment to being an asset to the public. The Miami University College Republicans have had a great relationship with [Miami University] President [Gregory] Crawford and other university officials. We aren’t surprised that Miami did the right thing here, because our administration is always taking action for the betterment of the student body and the community.”

Miami Assistant Provost of Global Initiatives Cheryl Young defended the Confucius Institute in an interview with Cincinnati Public Radio last year, saying “I can’t speak to the experience of other Confucius Institutes but our experience here is we have autonomy. It is a partnership with our partner university and it is a two-sided arrangement.”

Trump Campaign Sues NBC Station Over 'Defamatory and False' Ad

President Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a defamation lawsuit against a Wisconsin TV network after the channel aired a misleading political ad that relied on editing to make it appear as though he was calling the coronavirus a “hoax.”

The lawsuit, which was filed Monday in Price County, Wisconsin, claimed Rhinelander’s WJFW-TV aired a misleading ad from the far-left super PAC Priorities USA more than 36 times after it was issued a cease-and-desist letter on March 26.

The advertisement, according to a copy of the defamation suit, ran until April 6 and aired 10 times that day.

According to the Trump campaign’s legal filing, the ad “does not just contain false and defamatory statements about President Trump — it is far more insidious and, ultimately, far more dangerous” and the network has thus “perpetrated a fraud on the public by recklessly broadcasting PUSA’s defamatory and false advertisement.”

“The advertisement was produced through the use of digital technology by taking audio clips from Trump Campaign events and piecing those clips together to manufacture a blatantly false statement that was never said by President Trump,” the lawsuit read.

“The Cease and Desist Letter explained, in relevant part, that the PUSA ad stitched together audio clips from candidate Trump’s statements to fraudulently and maliciously represent that he called the coronavirus pandemic a ‘hoax.’”

The lawsuit further claimed that “[the station] continued to broadcast the PUSA ad and therefore it continued to defame the Trump Campaign.”

“The false statements in the PUSA ad as broadcast by [the station] are intended to impede the purpose and goal of the Trump Campaign, by negatively impacting the Trump Campaign’s ability to reelect its candidate,” the lawsuit read.

The ad, which can be seen below, splices together soundbites of comments from Trump over a period of months while using a line graph that tallies confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the U.S.

The clips used in the ad are from President Trump’s Feb. 28 rally in North Charleston, South Carolina, where he said that Democrats were pushing a narrative that he was not taking the threat from the coronavirus seriously.

“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” Trump told supporters at the rally. “They have no clue, they don’t have any clue, they can’t even count their votes in Iowa.”

Medical Experts Confirm Democrats Have Developed Herd Immunity To Sexual Assault Allegations

U.S.—Medical experts were excited to announce today that Democrats have achieved herd immunity against sexual assault allegations.

After getting accused of sexual assault thousands and thousands of times for so many years, the Democrats developed some kind of antibodies against the allegations. Researchers are taking blood samples to isolate the antibodies to see if a vaccine can be developed for other groups.

"It's amazing -- the entire Democrat demographic is entirely immune," said one researcher as he took blood samples from Joe Biden. "After conspiring with the media to squash any accusations that pop up, it seems, over time, Democrats have been able to develop a kind of herd immunity to any allegations." This is satire.

Migrant Youths Riot in Belgium Despite Coronavirus Lockdown

Police only intervened when mob was armed.

Migrant-background youths staged a riot in Anderlecht, Belgium during which they trashed police vehicles and fired guns despite the city being under a coronavirus lockdown.

The unrest was triggered by an incident in which a 19-year-old identified as ‘Adil’ killed himself by colliding with a police van after running through a checkpoint on his scooter.

This prompted calls for a “protest” which quickly turned into a violent riot as the youths smashed up the police vehicle using bricks and concrete slabs.

An individual wearing a balaclava subsequently fired a handgun that had been stolen from police.

Attorney General William Barr had harsh words for the Obama administration and its Department of Justice in an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, warning that there was “no basis” for opening a probe into whether the Trump presidential campaign and the Trump transition team improperly collaborated with Russian officials to impact the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Barr even went so far as to suggest that there was something more sinister behind the probe.

“My own view is that the evidence shows that we’re not dealing with just mistakes or sloppiness. In 2019, the Justice Department charged John Durham with compiling a report on how the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation came together. “The review upgraded into a criminal investigation in the fall,” the Washington Examiner adds, “giving the prosecutor the power to impanel a grand jury and hand down indictments. The attorney general told Durham to focus just as much on the time period after the 2016 election as before it.”
