Chicago Art Museum Fires Unpaid Volunteers For Being White

Replaces them with ‘diverse’ paid workers on $25 an hour.

A prestigious art museum in Chicago fired hundreds of unpaid volunteers and replaced them with paid workers because they were too white.

Yes, really.

The Art Institute of Chicago had been able to depend on the help of 122 highly skilled volunteers, mostly older white women, to act as guides to the Museum’s collection of 300,000 works, which they explain in great detail to visitors.

The volunteers also acted as “school group greeters” to help children understand the importance of what they were seeing.

Training requirements for the position were intense, and the volunteers were apparently doing a great job.

But now they’ve now all been dismissed for not being “diverse” enough.

“Many of the volunteers—though not all—are older white women, who have the time and resources to devote so much free labor to the Museum,” reports the Why Evolution is True blog.

“But the demographics of that group weren’t appealing to the AIC, and so, in late September, the AIC fired all of them, saying they’d be replaced by smaller number of hired volunteers workers who will be paid $25 an hour. That group will surely meet the envisioned diversity goals.”

“Paying the replacements will not result in more knowledgeable docents. But they won’t be Caucasian; that’s the important thing,” writes Dave Blount.

Unfortunately for the volunteers, a lack of “diversity” is only apparently a problem at one end of the spectrum.

'They're lying at your network': In tense exchange, Joe Rogan forces Sanjay Gupta to admit CNN claiming he took 'horse dewormer' was wrong

There was a tense exchange between Joe Rogan and CNN's chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The massively popular podcast host confronted Gupta about CNN's lying about Rogan using "horse dewormer" after falling ill with coronavirus.

Last month, Rogan announced that he contracted COVID-19. The stand-up comedian said he "threw the kitchen sink" at the respiratory disease – including monoclonal antibodies and the controversial anti-parasite drug ivermectin. Rogan skewered CNN for the network's repeated claims that the UFC color commentator was using "horse dewormer" and even floated the idea of suing the cable news network for falsely saying that he was taking a veterinary medicine and not the human version.

In the most recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," the podcast host grilled Gupta about CNN's lies about him using "horse dewormer."

Gupta told Rogan, "By the way, I'm glad you're better."

"Thank you," Rogan responded. "You're probably the only one at CNN who's glad. The rest of them are all lying about me taking horse medication."

"That bothered you," Gupta said while grinning.

"It should bother you too," Rogan fired back. "They're lying at your network about people taking human drugs versus drugs for veterinary."

Gupta admitted, "Calling it a 'horse dewormer' is not a flattering thing, I get that."

"It's a lie. It's a lie on a news network … and it's a lie that they're conscious of. It's not a mistake," Rogan said, noting that ivermectin was prescribed to him by a doctor. "They're unfavorably framing it as veterinary medicine."

Gupta attempted to justify CNN's misclassification by referencing a "snarky" statement released by the Food and Drug Administration about ivermectin that said: "You are not a horse. You are not a cow."

Rogan asked, "Why would you say that when you are talking about a drug that's been given out to billions and billions of people?"

"A drug that one of the inventors won a Nobel Prize in 2015," Rogan noted.

"A drug that has been shown to stop viral replication in vitro. ... Why would they lie and say that's horse dewormer? I can afford people medicine, motherf***er. This is ridiculous! It's just a lie!"

Rogan said CNN host Brian Stelter was "gleeful" over Rogan's positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Rogan slammed CNN for not reporting that he tested negative for COVID-19 "five days later" and "felt great" following his treatment.

He continued to question CNN's chief medical correspondent, "Don't you think that a lie like that is dangerous on a news network when you know that they know they're lying? ... Do you think that that's a problem that your news network lies?"

Rogan challenged Gupta, "My point is you're working for a news organization. If they're lying about a comedian taking horse medication, what are they telling us about Russia? What are they telling us about Syria? Do you understand that that's why people get concerned about the veracity of the news?"

Gupta finally confessed, "They shouldn't have said that." Gupta said he "didn't know" why the network spread the "horse dewormer" lie.

Rogan also confronted Gupta on the neurosurgeon's recommendation that children get vaccinated:

Is America Becoming Rome Versus Byzantium?

Our Byzantine interior and Roman coasts are quite differently interpreting their shared American heritage as they increasingly plot radically divergent courses to survive in scary times.

In A.D. 286 the Roman emperor Diocletian split in half the huge Roman Empire administratively—and peacefully—under the control of two emperors.

A Western empire included much of modern-day Western Europe and northwest Africa. The Eastern half controlled Eastern Europe, and parts of Asia, and northeastern Africa.

By 330 the Emperor Constantine institutionalized that split by moving the empire’s capital from Rome to his new imperial city of Constantinople, founded on the site of the old Greek polis of Byzantium.

The two administrative halves of the once huge empire continued to drift apart. Soon there arose two increasingly different, though still kindred versions of a once unified Romanity.

The Western empire eventually collapsed into chaos by the latter 5th century A.D..

Yet the Roman eastern half survived for nearly a thousand years. It was soon known as the Byzantine Empire, until overwhelmed by the Ottoman Turks in 1453 A.D..

Historians still disagree over why the East endured while the West crumbled. And they cite the various roles of differing geography, border challenges, tribal enemies, and internal challenges.

We moderns certainly have developed unfair stereotypes of a supposedly decadent late imperial Rome of Hollywood sensationalism that deserved its end. And we likewise mistakenly typecast a rigid, ultra-orthodox bureaucratic “Byzantine” alternative that supposedly grew more reactionary to survive in a rough neighborhood.

Yet in both cases, separate geography multiplied the growing differences between a Greek-speaking, Orthodox Christian, and older civilization in the east, versus a more or less polyglot and often fractious Christianity in the Latin West.

Byzantium held firm against ancient neighboring Persian, Middle Eastern, and Egyptian rivals. But the West disintegrated into a tribal amalgam of its own former peoples.

Unlike the West, the glue that held the East together against centuries of foreign enemies, was the revered idea of an ancient and uncompromising Hellenism—the preservation of a common, holistic Greek language, religion, culture, and...

Walgreens Closing 5 Stores in Democrat-Controlled San Francisco Due to Rampant Crime

The ravages of crime in a liberal bastion have led one retailer to close stores rather than to keep fighting a losing battle.

Walgreens announced Tuesday that it will close five stores in the heart of San Francisco.

“Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that,” said Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso, according to SFGate.

“Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average. During this time to help combat this issue, we increased our investments in security measures in stores across the city to 46 times our chain average in an effort to provide a safe environment.”

“This is a sad day for San Francisco,” said Ahsha Safai, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. “We can’t continue to let these anchor institutions close that so many people rely on.”

“I am completely devastated by this news – this Walgreens is less than a mile from seven schools and has been a staple for seniors, families and children for decades. This closure will significantly impact this community,” he wrote in a Twitter post.

Safai said one store had added security, but it was “too little, too late for this store.”

California law says that stealing less than $950 worth of goods is penalized as a nonviolent misdemeanor.

Instagram Censors Evolutionary Biologist For Post Pointing Out Men Are Physically Stronger Than Women

This is what anti-science looks like

Facebook owned Instagram has censored Evolutionary biologist Colin Wright after he posted a chart that proves men are biologically stronger than women in a range of sports, even if they have undergone gender transitioning treatment.

Instagram removed Wright’s post which contained a chart from a scientific study titled Transgender Women in the Female Category of Sport: Perspectives on Testosterone Suppression and Performance Advantage.

The peer-reviewed study was published in the journal Medicine & Sports, which has been in wide circulation since 1969.

The study by researchers at the University of Manchester in the UK and Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm found that biological males categorically have performance advantages over biological females across sports that are contested in the Olympics.

Wright also noted that he wasn’t able to appeal the censorship, despite Instagram claiming he could do so:

The study, one of several to conclude the same thing, found that the use of typical testosterone suppression methods doesn’t diminish the performance advantage that exists between biological men and women by a significant amount.
The study, which was published before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, also found that even after three years of hormone therapy, transgender women on average still retain strength advantages over biological women.
