Eloi and Morlocks in Portlandia

9-year-old Hadar Kedem was playing with her father, brother, and family dog in a Portland city park when the gunmen came and the bullets began flying.

“They huddled up into this group and we thought they were going to do a race or something, but instead they pulled out guns and started shooting and then I got really scared,” the little girl told the Portland City Council. “There was a bullet that shot like four or five feet away from my right..”

The exchange of gunfire between over a dozen men was just one of the gang shootings that delivered Portland to what its police chief called a “grim milestone” of 1,000 shootings.

Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and the police defunding movement had taken Portland from 388 shootings in 2019 to over 1,000 this year. Murders in Rose City rose by 83% breaking its previous high score set in 1987. As the Black Lives Matter race riots got underway, Portland went from 23 shootings in March 2020 to 104 by July of that same year. By March 2021, there were 93 shootings. Gone were the pleasant days of 2019 when Portlanders might complain about 30 shootings. The summer of 2021 saw around 400 shootings: more than in all of 2019.

Rose City Park with its cedars and rose gardens located right next to a golf course is exactly the sort of amenity that its upscale residents moved there for. Now it’s a brutal war zone.

But trapped in their woke fantasies, the city’s Eloi can’t come to terms with what’s happening.

Shoshana Gugenheim Kedem, Hadar’s mother, an “insectional feminist” who “dismantles patriarchy”, and advocated for “Palestinian rights”, denounced her daughter’s “white privilege”.

“We are a white family of privilege,” the leftist hipster artist confessed. “No one in our family wants to see the result of this be more police presence at parks. That’s not the answer.”

What was the answer?

Gugenheim insisted that instead of police, the solution to a dozen men opening fire in the park was dealing with root causes, "services for disadvantaged communities", "education", "gun control", and "a task force of people with equity training to tackle the issue of gun violence".

Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty, who had called for defunding the police before calling the police on her Lyft driver when he asked her to leave his car, welcomed...

China carries out first successful test of underwater explosives that could destroy US ports after launching 'satellite-crushing' weapon and hypersonic missile

China has successfully tested underwater explosives to destroy a port, which state media says will be used to destroy American logistics networks in the even of a real war
  • China has carried out its first test of underwater explosives to destroy a port
  • Test was used to gather data that can be used for demolitions during a real war
  • Underwater bombs could be used to target US ports in conflict, state media said
  • Comes after China launched satellite that could crush other spacecraft, and tested what analysts believe to be two hypersonic orbital nukes
China has carried out its first-ever demolition of a port using underwater explosives, a tactic that state media said could be used against the US in the event of a war.

Beijing's military carried out the test on Saturday, using underwater charges to destroy a dummy wharf at an undisclosed location somewhere in China.

The technology is designed to cut off enemy supply lines in the event of a conflict, state-owned Global Times newspaper said, adding that sneak attacks using underwater charges will make large vessels like US aircraft carriers vulnerable.

It is just the latest in a string of Chinese military tests - including the launch of a satellite last week that the US warns could attack other spacecraft, and two tests of an orbital weapon that analysts think is a hypersonic nuke.

China carries out first successful test of underwater explosives

Reporting on the latest test, Global Times said underwater charges were used to 'fully demolish' a wharf with a 'powerful explosion'.

Sensors installed on the wharf were used to gather data that will be used to support attacks on 'hostile ports in a real war,' the Times said.

It added that underwater demolitions are a response to changing US tactics in the Pacific, claiming that Washington is dividing its forces between smaller locations instead of concentrating them in one place to mitigate the damage from attacks.

This tactic increases the strain on logistics operations required to keep large vessels such as aircraft carriers afloat, the Times said, making attacks on infrastructure such as ports and wharfs more important.

'With ports destroyed, enemy logistics support will fail and a dispersed fighting force... will also fail,' an unnamed military expert told the paper.

The test comes just a day after the Times reported on the launch of a new satellite - Shijian 21 - which the paper said is designed to test technology to clear space debris.

But Washington warns the same technology - thought to take the form of a robotic arm - can be used to 'grapple' other satellites and potentially disable them.

Beijing has launched one 'debris-clearing' satellite before - Shijian 17 - which went into space back in 2016.

Officially designated a communication satellite that is merely 'observing' space debris, the US says it is actually equipped with...

“I Can’t Believe The Things You’re Saying:” Judge in Rittenhouse Trial Rebukes Prosecutor for Excusing Rioter’s Arson

A judge overseeing pre-trial motions in Kyle Rittenhouse’s homicide trial rebuked a prosecutor who sought to defend convicted pedophile Joseph Rosenbaum on Tuesday, expressing disbelief that the state minimized Mr. Rosenbaum’s involvement in arson before attacking Rittenhouse and being shot.

Judge Bruce Schroeder didn’t take kindly to the spin practiced by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger. “I can’t believe what you’re saying… Come on!”

The same prosecutor later admitted that Rosenbaum attacked Rittenhouse following a spree of riotous behavior. Big League Politics exposed Rosebaum’s child sex crimes convictions in Arizona, with the troubled man having walked to downtown Kenosha unable to obtain psychological medication he had been prescribed.

The state was also forbidden from referring to Rosenbaum, Gage Grosskreutz and Anthony Huber- the men shot after attacking Rittenhouse- as ‘victims’ during trial proceedings. Prosecutors also sought to block a self-defense expert from testifying as to his interpretation of events in the summer 2020 riot that led to the shooting, but Rittenhouse defense and the state were able to come to a deal that permitted John Black to testify on an accepted set of topics. Mr. Black has previously called Rittenhouse’s use of force to defend himself from three different armed attackers “reasonable.”

The defense was authorized to refer to Grosskreutz, Rosenbaum and Huber as “rioters, looters and arsonists,” with criminal activity in downtown Kenosha that evening well-documented.

The developments may suggest that the state of Wisconsin will face a tougher battle than they anticipated in convicting Rittenhouse, whose arguments of...
