Things are happening rapidly over in Israel and you can expect more of the same for many days to come, but we'll provide you with some important updates as they roll in.
Here's some of what has happened since our last update yesterday:First, breaking as of 12:45 p.m., the U.S. is planning on moving Navy ships, including a carrier group, closer to Israel in a show of solidarity with our ally. The USS Gerald R. Ford carrier group could provide immediate military support if needed. NBC reports that the ships are currently underway and will take several days to reach the eastern Mediterranean. The U.S. is also working through plans for evacuation of American citizens if the situation becomes more dire.
At least 700 Israelis are confirmed dead after yesterday's invasion by armed Hamas forces. Several thousand at least are reported injured. Americans are among the dead and captured, according to AP News. Videos have emerged of Hamas fighters descending on a concert for peace in ultralight aircraft where many civilians were mowed down by their machine gun fire. 250 people at the concert for peace - including Americans, Germans, Canadians, and Norwegians - have been reported killed. One TikTok video showed the moment the Hamas aircraft were spotted in the sky.
