Last week, New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay proclaimed that the sight of "dozens of American flags" on a pickup truck was "disturbing" because she thought the message those flying the flags were trying to send was that she was not welcome in our country. 

In the next breadth, Gay suggested that the solution to this perceived slight was to "marginalize" the tens of millions of patriotic, freedom-loving Trump supporters. In other words, she wants to actually do what she accused those flying the flag of trying to say.

This is fundamentally the hypocrisy of the current liberal movement. Inclusiveness to them means only including those who agree with their world view and who are willing to succumb to their attempts to control as many aspects of...

Video: Students Trash The U.S. Flag, Equate It With War, Genocide, Racism

“Absolute love of the American flag is correlated to extremism.”

With today, June 14th, being Flag Day, Campus Reform visited the University of Texas in Dallas to see what students think their country’s flag represents.

Reporter Ophelie Jacobson was subject to some disturbing comments, with many saying they feel the U.S. flag is a global symbol of war and genocide.

“A lot of things come to mind. First of all, war. Second of all, we’ve also taken a bit of land from Native Americans,” one student commented, adding “it’s just really terrible that we’ve done all these things and this flag kind of reminds me of that, of all the sins we’ve committed against others.”

The same student agreed that the flag represents ‘racism’, claiming “the whole ‘patriotism’ thing sweeps that narrative of racism, oppression and the like under the rug.”

Another student said the flag represents “nationalism, exclusiveness, and selfishness,” adding “I’ve definitely seen the American flag used as a symbol of racism,” and suggesting supporters of President Trump waving the flag at rallies is one example of that.

Another student stated that “absolute love of the American flag is correlated to extremism.”

Most students didn’t even know there was a day to celebrate the flag and opined that it is either unnecessary or ‘redundant’.

Only one student said that the American flag represents ‘freedom’.

A new Daily Mail report suggests that Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York was not speaking for everyone in her family when she blamed former President Donald Trump for the living conditions in Puerto Rico.

In early June, Ocasio-Cortez claimed her grandmother was ill and tweeted a photo purporting to show hurricane damage in the woman’s house.

“Just over a week ago, my abuela fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID. This is her home. Hurricane María relief hasn’t arrived. Trump blocked relief $ for PR. People are being forced to flee ancestral homes, & developers are taking them,” she tweeted.

That triggered conservative commentator Matt Walsh to launch a GoFundMe effort to pay for any home repairs and other assistance needed for Ocasio-Cortez’s abuela. However, the effort ended abruptly after someone from Ocasio-Cortez’s family told GoFundMe that the beneficiary would not be accepting the over $100,000 that was raised.

According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, the outlet sent a reporter and photographer to visit the woman identified as Ocasio-Cortez’s grandmother, Clotilde Rivera — to check on her house and speak with her.

When Daily Mail staffers reportedly arrived at Rivera’s house in Puerto Rico, the outlet said the journalists were greeted by a woman who refused to give her name but said, “I am her aunt. We don’t speak for the community.”

Unlike Ocasio-Cortez, the woman allegedly said, “We are private people, we don’t talk about our family.”

The woman who said she was Ocasio-Cortez’s aunt reportedly told the outlet that the damage from the 2017 hurricane still impacts many people on the island.
