Climate change policy is all about transfering billions of dollars from the USA into the pockets of poor countries (and not so poor aristocrats all around the world). Of course the Social Justice wing of the Vatican will do anything needed to see it prosper. So they sell a few indulgences? Who hasn't?
One of the reasons I left the Catholic Church decades ago is because of the nonsense that the popes have spewed over the centuries. Some of these guys were insane. Vicar of the Son of God indeed. The Council of Trent (1563) puts the self serving mutterings of a pope at the same level of inspiration as holy Scripture.
