Very Special Olympics
Jane was volunteering at the Special Olympics last summer. That was fun, and she did a lot of charity work, nothing she did, or could have done, compared to the acts of kindness done by the participants. There was a series of single-lap races going on, and it was on one of the last ones. As soon as the pistol went off, one guy fell before he could even start running. The participant in the lane next to him was about ten feet away, and saw the fall out of the corner of his eye. He turned around, went and helped the guy up, and hugged him. The guy who fell came in first. The man who helped him up came in last. But the one who fell gave the the man who helped him up his first place medal.
Jane cried, right there in the middle of the AstroTurf field.
