Wichita Lineman

I remember this song from my childhood listening to the car radio.. great song..

"Wichita Lineman" is a song written by American songwriter Jimmy Webb in 1968. It was first recorded by American country music artist Glen Campbell and widely covered by other artists. Campbell's version, which appeared on his 1968 album of the same name, reached #3 on the U.S. pop chart, remaining in the Top 100 for 15 weeks. In addition, the song also topped the American country music chart for two weeks, and the adult contemporary chart for six weeks.[1] It was certified gold by the RIAA in January 1969.[2] The song reached #7 in the UK. In Canada, the single also topped both the RPM national and country singles charts.[3][4]

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" ranked "Wichita Lineman" at #192. It has been referred to as "the first existential country song".[5] British music journalist Stuart Maconiecalled it "the greatest pop song ever composed";[6] and the BBC referred to it as "one of those rare songs that seems somehow to exist in a world of its own – not just timeless but ultimately outside of modern music".[7]

"Wichita Lineman" featured in series 12 of BBC Radio 4's Soul Music, a documentary series featuring stories behind pieces of music with a powerful emotional impact.[8]

Major Advances for Concealed Carry on Campuses in Several States

Gun bills advancing in Wyoming, Florida, Texas, Indiana, Montana, North Dakota

Concealed carry on campuses made strong advances with bills in Wyoming and Florida passing out of committee and one bill in Texas gaining support. Indiana and Montana recently introduced similar bills, and North Dakota is reportedly considering such legislation.

Rep. Allen Jaggi (R.) was the primary sponsor of House Bill 114, the Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act. It would allow for concealed carry of weapons at schools, universities, and colleges as well as governmental buildings.

It passed its first hurdle this week, with the House Judiciary Committee voting 8-1 to approve the bill and send it to the House floor.

Jaggi’s communications director did not respond to a request for comment as of press time. Jaggi told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle he believes it is unconstitutional that...

Attkisson: Obama Officials 'Bully and Threaten' Journalists, Free Press

Testifying at the confirmation hearing for Attorney General-nominee Loretta Lynch on Thursday, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson expressed concern about the “serious, long-term damage to a supposedly free press” by the Obama administration, which she claims “bullies and threatens access of journalists who do their jobs, news organizations that publish stories they don’t like, and whistleblowers who dare to tell the truth.”

“The message has already been received: if you cross the administration with perfectly accurate reporting that they don’t like, you will be attacked and punished. You and your sources may be subjected to the kind of surveillance devised for enemies of the state,” Attkisson stated in her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Attkisson, who has worked for CBS News, PBS, and CNN, detailed her personal experience as an investigative reporter dealing with the Obama administration.
