Ninety miles from the South Eastern tip of the United States, Liberty has no stead. In order for Liberty to exist and thrive, Tyranny must be identified, recognized, confronted and extinguished.

Wife Fears Missing Interpol Chief Dead: ‘Everybody In China Is At Risk’
Orwell’s 1984 is coming to life: That China could simply snatch and ‘disappear’ the head of a major international crime-fighting organization like Interpol, which is based in France, is incredulous. This is comparable to the sudden murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi citizen, in Turkey.
Meng disappeared on September 29 while on a trip to China from France, where he and his wife live and where Interpol’s headquarters are located. China’s Public Security Ministry announced on October 7 that authorities had arrested Meng, who spent decades in Chinese law enforcement before moving to Interpol, on charges of accepting bribes. Beijing has not confirmed to the outside world that Meng is alive or safe, however, and he has not been seen since the day he was reported missing.
Grace Meng told the Associated Press Saturday that Chinese authorities claimed to have a letter Meng had written her as proof of his wellbeing while detained. “They said my husband wrote a letter to me. They said they can only give it to me alone,” she noted.
The officials insisted, however, that she meet with them in private to receive it directly. Fearing for her safety, Meng says she has demanded to meet with an attorney and journalists present, or that the Chinese government hand over the letter to French police to give to her. She is reportedly awaiting a response.
She used her conversation with the AP to argue that, if the Chinese government can so swiftly apprehend the head of an international institution like Interpol, “everybody in China is at risk. Everyone should be concerned that something like this could happen to them.”
“The term anti-corruption in China has become a synonym for crimes that are unjustifiable,” she continued.
In a conversation with the BBC last week, she said she would begin speaking out publicly against the Chinese government in the hopes that public awareness could prevent them from arbitrarily arresting more...
A book on the pale pastels of a Never Trumper senator.
Nebraska’s Republican Senator Ben Sasse has a new book out. The book, is titled Them: Why We Hate Each Other — and How to Heal.
I should note at the beginning that the Senator has a cordial relationship with the Spectator’s Editor in Chief, R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. So my dissent here on the Senator’s book is respectful, as it would be in any case.
Which makes the Senator’s book all the more curious. Why? Because, as news accounts have noted, like this one at the Washington Times, Sasse has yet again decided to attack his own side. In 2016 it was his party’s nominee, President Trump. (A refusal to endorse Trump, which, had he gotten his way and Trump were defeated, would have resulted in Hillary Clinton appointing two Supreme Court Justices. His own Nebraska GOP angrily denounced him for abandoning Trump.) Now it’s Sean Hannity. A sample headline:
To which Hannity responded by saying Sasse was a “con artist and phony,” adding:
I was curious. What in the world is Never Trumper Sasse saying in his book? So, I bought the book and looked for myself. And I confess I was seriously taken with its considerable lack of reality about the history of the conservative movement — and Hannity’s role in it.
Let me start with Sasse’s section titled “A Brief History of ‘Who Started It?’” In which he dates the division between Left and Right to the fight over Reagan Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork. I have to admit, this astonished. Sasse reveals that in the summer of 1987 when Bork was nominated he, Sasse, was fifteen. I was not fifteen. In fact, I was in the Reagan White House as an Associate Director for Political Affairs and, with colleagues, was working on the Bork nomination. Without question the fight was extraordinarily divisive, and Sasse accurately describes the behind the scenes efforts of Senators Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy in working with far-left interest groups to deny a Court seat to a superbly qualified nominee. In terms of Supreme Court nominations — as the Kavanaugh battle has shown yet again — the “process” was never the same again.
But the start of the Left-Right divide? Hardly. One wonders in astonishment if Sasse is at all familiar with the careers of William F. Buckley, Jr., Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan. And the fact that all three paved the way for Sean Hannity.
A short history. In 1951, 24-year-old William Buckley penned God and Man at Yale, which its publisher, Regnery Books, would describe in a special re-publication of the book in 1997 as “the protest of a young Yale graduate against the pervasive liberal bias and waywardness of his alma mater.” Buckley himself recounts the reaction to his book in that 1997 re-issue in a new foreword. Liberals of the day assailed the young conservative as a fascist, a Nazi, and a Klansman. In the latter case Buckley cites a hostile review that appeared in Saturday Review. It ended this way:
Sound familiar? Of course it does. If one didn’t know the date on this review was 1951, one could easily believe it was an attack on some modern-day conservative from a Leftist of today. This kind of thing went on throughout Buckley’s entire career.
In 1964, the week Barry Goldwater was nominated for president at the GOP convention in San Francisco, CBS News ran a report saying that at the convention’s conclusion Goldwater would be going to Germany, specifically “to Berchtesgadan, Hitler’s onetime stamping ground….”
Decades later in his memoirs Goldwater was still angry at the implication of the totally false story (he wasn’t going to Germany at all, or even leaving the country) that he was some sort of Nazi.
Reagan was regularly accused in the media and by opponents of being a fascist, a Nazi sympathizer, and pitching for votes from the Klan.
In other words? Long before Fox News, talk radio, social media — and Sean Hannity — these shrill, divisive attacks on conservatives were routine against the conservative stars of the day and their supporters. And like Hannity today, Buckley, Goldwater, and Reagan never hesitated to dish it right back to their critics and liberals in general.
Which brings us to Sasse’s mindblowing charges against Sean Hannity. And...

Sasse said, in part, that Hannity was trying “to intensify the political addictions to the one percent of America that is listening. The business model people like Hannity advance it is not good for the next generation.”Ben Sasse: Sean Hannity’s business model ‘not good for the next generation’
To which Hannity responded by saying Sasse was a “con artist and phony,” adding:
After your book fails, I will gladly debate you about how the success of the last 2 years never would have happened with your “never trumper” positions. Also we can talk about how you sucked up to me during your election, and why I know you are a con artist and phony. I know you desperately want access to my 600 amazing talk radio stations and to the number one show in all of Cable news.
I was curious. What in the world is Never Trumper Sasse saying in his book? So, I bought the book and looked for myself. And I confess I was seriously taken with its considerable lack of reality about the history of the conservative movement — and Hannity’s role in it.

The book is one which has the glow and appeal of a fiery cross on a hillside at night. There will undoubtedly be robed figures who gather to it, but the hoods will not be academic. They will cover the face.

Pompeo to Migrants: You Won’t Breach Border ‘No Matter What’; Haley Blames Socialist Dictators
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned participants in the migrant “caravan” moving through Mexico Tuesday that they will not breach the U.S. border illegally “no matter what,” as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley raised questions about a political agenda, accusing socialist leaders in the region of stoking the campaign.
Pompeo told reporters at the State Department the U.S. has a message for the column of Central Americans aiming to reach the U.S. southern border.
“You will not be successful at getting into the United States illegally, no matter what,” he said. “I repeat: The caravan will not cross our southern border illegally, under any circumstances.”
Pompeo said migrants wishing to come to the U.S. as refugees must “go through the normal refugee process.”
“But I can tell you with certainty, we are determined that illegal entry into the United States from this caravan will not be possible.”
Pompeo said he had spoken again to his Mexican counterpart, Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray, urging “timely action” by the Mexican authorities.
Mexico’s government said its agencies have registered 1,699 applications for refugee status in Mexico. Those applicants are no longer in the caravan, but sheltering in a fairground in ...

WOW! When a Dem Super Hero Is a Scrawny Socialist
Artist Chris Rodgers is great with a paintbrush and but his taste in superheroes is somewhat in question. He finished his mural of ‘Beto’ O’Rourke just before early voting began.
‘Beto’, a fake Hispanic, is a bit sly. Perhaps superhero isn’t quite the right depiction.
His real name is Robert Francis O’Rourke, a fourth generation Robert who was given the nickname ‘Beto’ to distinguish him from the other Roberts in his family, but he still uses it . He is of Irish descent.
O’Rourke was arrested for burglary, a misdemeanor charge disposed of the next year. In 1998, after he tripped an alarm jumping a fence at the University of Texas-El Paso.
El Paso police arrested O’Rourke for DWI, a misdemeanor charge that was dismissed after he completed “DWI school” the next year. He tried to leave the scene of the accident at the time. His father is said to have gotten him off. Beto is mostly truthful about the arrest but has lied about trying to leave the scene.
The DUI accident was also more serious than what he describes.
“I made the most that I could with my second choice and my opportunity,” O’Rourke has said about those youthful crimes.
He was once a bassist for a local punk rock band called the El Paso Pussycats. He’s on the left in the flowered dress. The song on Rolling Stone is pretty good as punk rock goes.

The mural, located in East Austin, features O’Rourke, a rising Democratic star, standing in front of a Texas flag with his shirt unbuttoned to reveal a “B” emblem, reminiscent of Superman’s “S.”
Y'ALL. New east Austin mural titled ‘Beto for Texas’ unveiled by artist Chris Rogers yesterday. @BetoORourke https://www.facebook.com/betomuraleastaustin/ …
Beto is described as the new JFK, in addition to being a fake superhero and a fake Hispanic.
While Beto doesn’t admit to being a socialist, his policies of open borders, free health care for all, and his desire to make his anti-gun mantra the signature issue for Texas puts him in...
CNN’s Acosta Tries To Call Trump A Racist In The Oval Office – Trump Schools Him BIG TIME (VIDEO)
CNN is such a sloppy mess of a fake news network. Kudos to President Trump for standing up for truth while remaining respectful while doing so. A lot of Americans would have planted someone like Acosta on their ass for attempting what he did to the president.
This is the far left in 2018 who believe being pro-America must also mean racist but being anti-America is somehow ‘noble’ and ‘good’. That nonsense needs to stop and it needs to...
