‘Dangerous Precedent’: GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy Says Politicization of Military ‘Must Stop Now’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Monday evening called for the politicization of the United States military under President Joe Biden to “stop now,” after a series of political controversies erupted over the last several days.

“.@DeptofDefense is being politicized. Uniformed service members recently criticized a private citizen for his First Amendment rights, & today a Dem lawmaker used soldiers in a political stunt against a GOP member. @SecDef Austin—This sets a dangerous precedent. It must stop now,” he tweeted.

A handful of other Republicans have also criticized the military’s involvement in politics.

Their rebukes came after a number of Army and Marine Corps generals and senior military leaders slammed conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson on social media after he criticized President Joe Biden’s focus on making the military more “feminized” while China was focused on making its future forces more masculine.

The senior military leaders mocked and, in some cases, issued threats at Carlson, implying that he could not comment on the military if he did not serve, which undermined the long-held American tradition of civilian rule and oversight of the military.

Indeed, members of Congress had to approve a waiver for Austin — a retired Army general — to become defense secretary since he had not spent more than seven years out of uniform as required by law. Austin reassured members of Congress that he understood the principle of civilian leadership of the military in order to be granted the waiver to serve as Biden’s defense secretary.

Conservative pundits and journalists noted after the senior leaders’ attacks that the military has never similarly come out against any member of the media like that — despite worse criticisms of human rights violations.

The Federalist’s Patrick Swan, himself an Army veteran, wrote in an article that progressive show host Rachel Maddow called the use of the National Guard to help quell riots last summer the “death of the Republic,” but did not face any rebuke from the Pentagon.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday wrote a letter to Austin addressing the attacks on Carlson and requested to meet with the Marine Corps Commandant, since one of its accounts had not only attacked Carlson, but also a civilian who suggested the service focus on China and...

The Washington Post's Fake Trump Quote Scandal Is a Lot Worse Than You Think

The media conspiracy against Trump became a lot more serious on Monday when the Washington Post retracted its January story claiming that President Donald Trump had pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find the fraud” in the 2020 election and said that he’d be a “national hero” if he did.

A recording of the call definitively proved that the quotes cited by the Washington Post, and then parroted by other outlets, were never actually said by the president at all.

But, as Becket Adams explains at the Washington Examiner, “the Washington Post’s dud of a ‘bombshell’ isn’t even the most scandalous thing about this episode in media malfeasance.”

The most scandalous thing, Adams, argues, is that several different newsrooms “claimed they independently ‘confirmed’ the original ‘scoop’ with anonymous sources of their own.”

NBC News reported it “confirmed The Post’s characterization of the Dec. 23 call through a source familiar with the conversation.”

USA Today claimed a “Georgia official speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters confirmed the details of the call.”

ABC News reported: “President Donald Trump phoned a chief investigator in Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office asking the official to ‘find the fraud’ and telling this person they would be a ‘national hero’ for it, an individual familiar with the matter confirmed to ABC News.”

PBS NewsHour and CNN likewise appeared to claim they independently “confirmed” the story through their own anonymous sources.

The Washington Post claimed its quotes were confirmed by an anonymous source, and at least five major news outlets claimed to independently confirm that Trump said things he never said. “The most likely scenario is ABC, the Washington Post, and others talked to the same person or group,” theorizes Adams. “It’s either that or a bunch of people managed somehow to be wrong about a very specific claim, which is...

Bill Maher Says U.S. Has Lost To China Because of U.S. "Wokeism" and "Culture Wars"

Bill Maher stands against his leftist colleagues in a rant on his HBO show calling Americans a “silly people” that are losing the battle for the 21st Century. He uses the famous line from Lawrence of Arabia to prove the point that Americans – intent on “staying a bunch of squabbling tribes” – will “remain a silly people.”

Maher said, “Do you know who doesn’t care that there is a stereotype of a Chinese man in a Dr. Seuss book? China.” The HBO host said that “all 1.4 billion [Chinese] could give a crouching tiger flying f**k because they are not a silly people.” He said that Chinese people wouldn’t care about this because they are “serious as a prison fight.”

The host said that China “does bad stuff” as he lightly touches on the horrific human rights abuses happening the China’s Uyghur population, saying, “they put Uyghurs in camps and punish dissent.” Maher said that Americans “don’t want to be [China], but there’s gotta be something between an authoritarian government – that tells everyone what to do – and a representative government that can’t do anything at all.”

His ultra-liberal crowd is sticking with him still at this point, wildly clapping for the “crouching tiger” comment and his views on our ineffective government. Maher claims that Americans are widely ignoring China’s dominance in 5G, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure. “Half the country is having a never-ending “woke” competition deciding [what gender Mr. Potato Head will be] and the other half believes we have to stop the lizard people because they’re eating babies. We are a silly people,” retorts Maher.

“Nothing ever moves in this impacted colon of a country,” says Maher as he remarks that our government can’t handle fixing the problems that Americans agree on because “we see a problem and we ignore it; lie about it; fight about it; endlessly litigate it; sunset clause it; kick it down the road, and then write a bill or a half a...
