American Veteran Fighting in Ukraine Shares Footage After Freeing Village, Taking Out Tanks

An American Army veteran fighting in Ukraine is documenting the operations of the country’s defenders on social media.

James Vasquez departed the United States in mid-March.

Vasquez and his platoon liberated a village on Thursday. The 47-year-old American posted a video indicating his unit neutralized seven Russian tanks and “countless” Russians.

Vasquez posed in front of a smoldering vehicle he identified as a Russian tank, although he may be referring to an infantry fighting vehicle.

“I don’t know if you guys know what this is behind me, but that’s a Russian tank. A Russian tank that was taken out.”

One of Vasquez’s Ukrainian comrades celebrates the victory by alluding to Vasquez’s nationality, before the men share a laugh.

“Welcome to America!”

The Army veteran has shared his experience fighting against Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Vasquez shared imagery of Russian airstrikes targeting infrastructure in the city of Lviv.

The experienced soldier would later move to the frontline combat zone of the conflict.

The Daily Mail interviewed Vasquez’s wife, who explained the motives of her husband, a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.

“It’s in his DNA, and he approached me, came to me after work, and said, ‘We need to talk, I can’t watch this on TV, I need to go help these guys,'” she said.

“Go ahead, just make sure you come home,” Tina replied, according to the Mail. “This is what he needs to do, and I need to support him.”

Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners (RSTP) – a subsidiary of the Hunter Biden and Christopher Heinz-founded Rosemont Capital – counted both Biden and Heinz as managing directors. Heinz is the stepson of former U.S. Secretary of State and current Climate czar John Kerry.

Amongst the companies listed on archived versions of the RSTP’s portfolio is Metabiota – an ostensibly San Francisco-based company that purports to detect, track, and analyze emerging infectious diseases.

Financial reports reveal that RSTP led the company’s first round of funding in 2015, which amounted to $30 million. Former managing director and co-founder of RSTP Neil Callahan – a name that also appears many times on Hunter Biden’s hard drive – sits on Metabiota’s Board of Advisors alongside former Clinton official Rob Walker who discussed, in another unearthed Hunter Biden hard drive e-mail, reaching out to the Obama Department of Defense with regard to Metabiota.

"Mega Emergency" Unfolds For World's Top Coffee Growers As Fertilizer Costs Spike

Coffee farmers worldwide are feeling the pressure of sanctions, as the Russian invasion of Ukraine sent fertilizer prices soaring, prompting concerns of declining harvests this year.

Bloomberg reports coffee farmers in Brazil, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, some of the largest coffee-producing countries in the world, are having trouble affording high fertilizer costs. Some farmers are substituting organic waste as a low-cost solution to nitrogen, phosphorous, and potash fertilizers. The move, however, will result in significantly reduced harvests of the bean.

Readers may recall we published a chart pack over the weekend of how the Ukrainian conflict and resulting sanctions by western countries on Russia have choked the world of natural resources, sending prices of commodities higher as traders fear shortages.

One chart shows that Russian fertilizer exports end up in South America, a top coffee-producing region.

We noted in a separate piece that Brazil, the world's top coffee producer, imports more than 85% of its fertilizer demand. Russia is its leading supplier, and Belarus provides 28% of the total. High prices for the nutrient and or even reduced shipments because of sanctions could jeopardize the world's coffee harvest this year.

"The situation represents a mega emergency for our members," said Fatima Ismael, general manager of the Nicaraguan coffee cooperative Soppexcca in Jinotega.

Prices for arabica in New York are flat on the year but could soon increase as fuel and fertilizer prices skyrocket. The Green Markets North American Fertilizer Index is up a little more than 30% this year, and crude oil is up 50%. Fertilizer and fuel are two major cost factors in cultivating coffee.

Xinia Chaves, executive director of the Costa Rican Coffee Institute, warns that insufficient fertilizer will reduce farmers' yields this year.

Rodrigo Vargas, president of Doka Estate in Costa Rica, said his farm needs 1,400 tons of fertilizer to produce 40,000 bags of coffee each harvest. Due to soaring prices, he'll be spreading less fertilizer on the soil and understands this will hurt yields.
