In A Dark, Smoke Filled Room, Shady Things Occur...

Smoke Filled Room:
Used to suggest an inner circle of power brokers, as at a convention. It suggests a cabal of powerful or well-connected, cigar-smoking men meeting privately to nominate a dark horse political candidate or otherwise make decisions[1] without regard for the will of the larger group.

UK Police Investigate Transgender Being Turned Down For Porn Role as a “Hate Crime”

UK police are investigating the potential “hate crime” of a transgender woman being turned down for a porn role because she still has a penis.

Yes, really.

25-year-old Ria Cooper, who became the UK’s youngest transgender person 10 years ago, received messages on WhatsApp from on anonymous photographer who wanted to have sex on camera and sell the tape.

However, when the photographer found out that Cooper still had male reproductive organs, he said he couldn’t work with her because she “has a cock.”

This prompted Cooper to alert Humberside Police to this “transphobic behavior” and authorities are now investigating whether a hate crime was committed.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “We received a report of a hate incident yesterday, on Wednesday, October 16. The report has been logged and will be investigated.”

The UK’s violent crime rate has risen by 19% in the last year. Fatal stabbings are...

Romney's Secret Twitter Account Found, Used To Defend Himself Against Attacks, Report

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney has made himself look even more ridiculous than he has in the past with a new revelation.

The senator, former governor of Massachusetts and 2012 Republican presidential candidate has a fake Twitter account.

He admitted to the fake Twitter account during an interview with The Atlantic and it did not take long for journalists to find it.

They manage that tension in different ways: While the president spent a too-online Saturday earlier this month unloading on Twitter—launching #IMPEACHMITTROMNEY into the canon of viral Trump taunts—Romney enjoyed a quiet afternoon picking apples with his grandkids in Utah and refusing to take the bait. When I met him in his office a couple of weeks later, I asked if the Twitter insults bothered him.

“That’s kind of what he does,” Romney said with a shrug, and then got up to retrieve an iPad from his desk. He explained that he uses a secret Twitter account—“What do they call me, a lurker?”—to keep tabs on the political conversation.

“I won’t give you the name of it,” he said, but “I’m following 668 people.” Swiping at his tablet, he recited some of the accounts he follows, including journalists, late-night comedians (“What’s his name, the big redhead from Boston?”), and athletes.

Trump was not among them. “He tweets so much,” Romney said, comparing the president to one of his nieces who overshares on Instagram. “I love her, but it’s like, Ah, it’s too much.”

He understands, of course, that many of his Republican colleagues live in fear of being subjected to a presidential Twitter tirade.

In fact, some believe that Trump’s targeting of Romney is intended as a warning to other GOP lawmakers lest they step out of line.

That fear is one of the reasons his caucus has attempted such elaborate rhetorical contortions to defend Trump as the House impeachment inquiry turns up damning evidence. “I think it’s very natural for people to look at circumstances and see them in the light that’s most amenable to their maintaining power,” he told me in an interview last month at The Atlantic Festival.

And within hours the news website Slate believed it had found the secret Romney account with the name of Pierre Delecto.

“This account joined the site in July of 2011, just one month after Romney announced his run for president,” Slate said.

“The majority of people it follows are either political reporters, politicians, political operatives, or pundits,” it said...

Ukrainian Businessman Says Gas Company Hired Hunter Biden For Protection

A former member of the Ukrainian parliament reportedly says Burisma Holdings hired Hunter Biden for protection.

Oleksandr Onyshchenko, a businessman who left Ukraine in 2016, said Burisma’s founder, Mykola Zlochevsky, sought the assistance of Hunter Biden, the son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, at a time when the natural gas company was under intense scrutiny for corruption.

“It was to protect [the company],” Onyshchenko told Reuters on Friday.

Hunter Biden obtained a seat on the company’s board of directors because he was seen as a man with a political clout, influence from his father’s role in the Obama administration, according to people interviewed by the news agency. Joe Biden was doling out assistance to Ukraine as then-President Barack Obama’s point man in the east European country.

Hunter Biden has admitted that he exercised “poor judgment” in taking a position for which he had no expertise or experience but blames his detractors for believing in a “ridiculous conspiracy.” He claims he knew as much about the subject as anyone on the board and that when he discussed the matter with his father, the elder Biden said, “I hope you know what you’re doing.”

His job ended in April this year after five years of apparently providing advice on legal issues and corporate finance, according to Reuters, which also noted Biden did not visit Ukraine to engage with other board members during...

HARVEY, LA (NOLA.com) – The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Harvey man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl at knifepoint.

23 House Republicans Have Yet to Back Movement to Censure Adam Schiff

Twenty-three House Republicans have yet to back a movement to condemn House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) for deliberately fabricating a conversation between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Breitbart News reported Friday that 173 House GOP lawmakers have cosponsored a bill crafted by House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-AZ), known as H. Res. 604. H. Res. 604 would condemn Schiff for reading a fictional phone call between Zelensky and Trump into the record.

Schiff also allegedly lied about having never spoken to the Ukrainian intelligence officer “whistleblower.”

Biggs wanted to force a vote on the legislation this week, but delayed the move after House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) passed away. The Arizona conservative will reportedly force the vote Monday night.

The legislation has quickly gained support from Republicans across the political spectrum. House Freedom Caucus conservatives, moderates, and House GOP leadership have all backed the legislation.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) have sponsored the resolution to condemn Schiff.

As the House moves towards voting on Biggs’ bill to condemn Schiff, not every Republican has cosponsored the bill. The 23 Republicans that have yet to cosponsor the bill to condemn Schiff are:

Martha Roby (R-AL)

Ken Buck (R-CO)

Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL)

Francis Rooney (R-FL)

Rob Woodall (R-GA)

Rodney Davis (R-IL)

Jackie Walorski (R-IL)

Greg Pence (R-IL)

Hal Rogers (R-IL)

Fred Upton (R-MI)

Ann Wagner (R-MO)

Chris Smith (R-NJ)

Peter King (R-NY)

Tom Reed (R-NY)

John Katko (R-NY)

Mike Turner (R-OH)

Greg Walden (R-OR)

Dusty Johnson (R-SD)

Van Taylor (R-TX)

Michael McCaul (R-TX)

Mac Thornberry (R-TX)

Jamie-Herrera Beutler (R-WA)

Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA)

Readers should note that even though these Republicans have not cosponsored the legislation, it does not necessarily mean that they will vote against the resolution to condemn Schiff. It remains entirely possible that many, if not all, of these Republicans will vote for the resolution to condemn Schiff.

However, since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Schiff have moved forward with their impeachment inquiry into Trump’s conversation with Zelensky, this resolution has become a focal point through which Republicans can fight back against the Democrats and show Republicans’ nearly unanimous support for...
