Where did Americans ever get the idea that sending petitions to the government was how things got done?
Didn't anyone pay attention to their HS Civics classes? The Petition plays zero role in American political process. Congress passes laws. Those laws are written and introduced by congressmen. Then the president signs them. Then the executive branch enforces them. See a petition anywhere in that process?
