In the face of an approaching ‘caravan’ of migrants headed towards the U.S. Trump issued a proclamation on November 9 that declared anyone who entered the United States illegally ineligible for asylum.
The order was immediately challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights which sued the Trump administration.
U.S. District judge Jon S. Tigar, an Obama appointee, shot down the proclamation with a temporary restraining order.
