In 2008, while the House was considering banking reform (and threatening the banks with it), Speaker Pelosi and her husband were each personally invited to participate in a pair of Visa IPOs, normally only open to institutional investors. They made somewhere around $12 million from that exchange, and the legislation was far less “reformative” than had been promised.
IIRC, she was censured for that, but no action because Speaker of the House.

lobbyists wright all the bills for the congress critters, tech lobbyists will write the law to their benefit with positive names like "the cares act" which does not care.
They think with these bill names we will be happy, only those who are stupid are happy.
