His is the very same excuse used by the Principal and a teacher when I was in high school. The Principal was caught red handed walking out of a high priced clothing store with a heavy lady's fur coat in his arms which he 'forgot' to pay for.
The teacher used a similar excuse when he was caught walking out of a store with multiple items of clothing heaped in his arms and wrist watches stuffed in his pockets. He claimed he was simply an 'absent minded professor' who was so lost in thought (thinking of what, a mathematical theory yet unsolved?) Dude, you're a high school English teacher.
The teacher got off scot free. The Principal was given a short probation. Both kept their jobs.
The reason they use such lame excuses is because they work. I would not be surprised if voters are already taking pity on the criminal.
Cuomo will be back, just watch. Politicians, having tasted the filthy lucre, will never relinquish. They may 'step down' but they only shuffle and went a few years before returning to their former glory.
