Those restoration videos are neato and all, and I'm not saying that when the work is done whatever the guy restores is not worth anything, I'm sure it's worth something to someone, but to anyone who may be interested in the object as an antique, a restoration like that just ruins it.
In fact, you could find something that is extremely valuable as an antique, an original rare Tiffany lamp for example, that in original condition could be worth millions. If you take that and do a complete rebuild then bring it to a broker, they would probably have a coronary event. So would you when they got up off the floor and told you how much you just lost by messing with it.
