The Donner sign is likely very intentional. As a kid, I visited the Donner Memorial and picked up a shirt that said, "Donner Memorial Cafe: Who's for lunch." It was in their official gift shop and I'm certain was quite intentional.
I loved to wear that to school because back then teacher's would get upset, but couldn't argue about an official "historical" shirt.
