About the NYPD pulling the protesters up who had glued themselves to the pavement. Of course that started the overly dramatic screaming by the guy, because this is ultimately done to make anyone who objects to the street being blocked into someone evil because they want to use the road.
It always seemed to me the best way to approach that would be to make the protesters suddenly and desperately not want to be there so much that they'd get themselves out of there. How? Simply supply the police with chainsaws. Maybe even citizens like that retired lawyer in Panama who shot two protesters. Just pull the starter cord on the chainsaw, and when the engine revs up, I'd bet money they'd pull their own hands off the pavement rather than say goodbye to that hand. And if someone should happen to get their hand chopped off, that's the price for the protest.
As it is, they don't pay any real price for messing everyone else's day up. This way, it's their choice.
