The FDA also went after Berkey Water Filters and prohibited the company from selling their "black" filter elements which are, by the way, the GOLD STANDARD of filters! Why? The FDA said that the Berkey filter elements contained PESTICIDES. What was the pesticide? SILVER! A small amount of silver is incorporated in the elements to make them last longer. The silver also KILLS BACTERIA, which the FDA gave as the reason it considered silver a pesticide. Imagine that. The filter kills bacteria; something you WANT it to do. It makes the water SAFER TO DRINK. Now... WHY would the FDA come down on Berkey for selling these filters, which have been on the market since 1999? Well, when you consider that municipal water systems are the most convenient and COVERT method of "administering" something like a "vaccine" to the general public; think Fluoride, folks, and that Berkey filters can and WILL filter out almost ANYTHING in the water, it's not hard to derive an accurate answer! Oh; and for the record, the "Berkey Black" elements in question here will NOT filter out Fluoride, which, by the way, is one of the MOST TOXIC CHEMICAL COMPOUND ON EARTH... and it may be IN YOUR WATER. Berkey DOES, however, sell a white subfilter to deal with it if your water IS fluoridated.
