The behavior of the rep from Michigan is disgusting. She politicized the issue. She used her time to grandstand.
The House controls the purse. She's a member of the House. She could write a bill for what she asks.
Will she? Based on what I saw, to say she won't. Instead keep it a talking point in the game of I'm right, you're wrong.
Why would a sitting member of the House act as she did? I think because there is money in it. She is the mouth for certain lobbying groups who want to keep the issue on the table, but not solve it. Solving the issue means using the issue is no longer viable as a source of money to those lobbying groups.
