Federal Reserve cuts rates over coronavirus economic impact as more countries report illnesses

As the new coronavirus spreads in South Korea, Europe and the United States, the U.S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates on Tuesday in an emergency move to try to prevent a global recession with the virus taking a heavy toll on air travel, tourism and other industries.

Despite the Fed’s attempt to stem the economic fallout from the coronavirus, U.S. stock indexes were down more than 3%, safe-haven gold rose 3% and analysts and investors are questioning if the rate cut will be enough in the long run if the virus continues to spread. [.N] [MKTS/GLOB]

In Iran, doctors and nurses lack supplies and 77 people have died, the highest number outside China. The United Arab Emirates announced it was closing all schools for four weeks.

The death toll in Italy, Europe’s worst-affected country, jumped to 79 on Tuesday and Italian officials are considering expanding the area under quarantine. France reported its fourth coronavirus death and Iceland, Indonesia, Ukraine and Argentina reported their first coronavirus cases, taking the global total to...

Judge Orders Hillary Clinton Deposition in Judicial Watch Lawsuit

A federal judge on Monday ordered former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to give a deposition under oath over a years-old lawsuit filed by the conservative group Judicial Watch regarding her role in the response to the 2012 attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya.

U.S. District Court Royce Lamberth, a Reagan appointee, said in court filings that written answers provided by Clinton to questions from Judicial Watch were "incomplete, unhelpful, or cursory, at best."

"As extensive as the existing record is, it does not sufficiently explain Secretary Clinton’s state of mind when she decided it would be an acceptable practice to set up and use a private server to conduct State Department business," Lamberth wrote in his order. "Simply put, her responses left many more questions than answers."

"Even years after the FBI investigation, the slow trickle of new emails has yet to be explained," the judge added, referring to the rate at which emails from Clinton's private email server have since been released.

The order is the first requiring Clinton to testify under oath in person on the subject of the 2012 attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi and the Obama administration's response at the time, when Clinton was head of the State Department.

Conservatives have long been critical of Clinton's role in the administration's response to the attack, which resulted in the death of...

Surprise protesters throw chaos into Fox’s Bloomberg Townhall after condescending answer to feisty pro-gun American

Billionaire Mike Bloomberg belittled Americans who say they need to protect their rights to self-defense via the Second Amendment and protesters subsequently stood up to him on live TV.

Instead of airing President Trump’s rally in North Carolina Monday evening, Fox News televised a Bloomberg town hall in Manassas, Virginia, on the eve of the Super Tuesday primaries. Democrat-run Virginia, of course, is at the center of the left’s ongoing efforts to strip Second Amendment protections away from everyday citizens, and Bloomberg is known to be an ardent gun-control proponent.

So it was no surprise when an emotional gun rights supporter in the audience, Clarke Chitty, in his turn with the microphone, asked Bloomberg, “How do you justify pushing for more gun control when you have an armed security detail that is likely equipped with the same firearms and magazines that you seek to ban the common citizen from owning? Does your life matter more than mine or my family’s or these people’s?”

The audience followed that query with loud cheers of support.

Then, after Bloomberg’s condescending and even sarcastic response, a small number of protesters with signs stood up and circled the stage, bringing the telecast to a temporary halt and a commercial break while security swept in. Watch the audience’s displeasure with the former mayor’s answer and the protest as it broke out …

Going back to the question and Bloomberg’s full answer–in essence, the billionaire candidate’s lofty importance is the reason he warrants protection, while those living in crime-ridden neighborhoods around the country cannot be trusted, Bloomberg said, while also claiming that he would not change the Constitution, saying, “

As Libs Smear Pence on Coronavirus, Trump Critic Dr. Drew Steps In & Corrects the Record

Television personality and addiction specialist Dr. David Drew Pinsky is firing back at those who have criticized Vice President Mike Pence’s response to epidemics when he was the governor of Indiana.

Last week when Pinsky appeared on “Daily Blast Live,” the hosts asserted that Pence “mishandled the HIV epidemic in 2015 with the needle-exchange program which one study said actually contributed to more deaths.”

But Pinsky quickly squashed that argument, saying that Indiana’s response was a model for others wanted to follow.

“I don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said to the hosts’ accusations against the vice president’s response to the HIV crisis.

“We used to point at the way Indiana responded to the opiate of the HIV epidemic as the model for the country.

“I don’t know what they’re talking about. The only reason I felt comfortable with Pence as vice president was I was aware of his track record in Indiana in handling these serious problems, and they handled them better than most states did, almost any other states.

“So, I don’t know what the hell people are talking about. That is fake news,” Dr. Pinsky asserted in Pence’s defense.

“Yes, it took everybody a while to respond properly to it, but they really took care of business in Indiana, so I have no idea what people are talking about.

“Whether Pence is the right person? Look, the right people are Anthony Fauci of the [Centers for Disease Control],” he said. “Dr. Fauci will tell you what’s going on, when you need to worry.

“I worked with him on the HIV epidemic back in the 80s; that guy’s been on top of infectious disease for 30 years.

“When there’s a problem, he will let us know, and he’s been saying exactly what I’ve been saying the whole way. Look to him, not me, and not even Vice President Pence; look at guys like Anthony Fauci whose responsibility is to contain these...

RNC and Trump Campaign Break 2016 Digital Fundraising Record

Fueled by impeachment hysteria, the Republican National Committee closed out 2019 with their best fundraising month on record for a non-election year. The Committee raised $26.5 million in December, a $6 million increase from the month prior. In total that brought the combined fundraising of the RNC and Trump’s fundraising committees for 2019 to nearly a half-billion dollars, giving them a war chest of $195 million in cash on hand.

The fundraising numbers for February are in, and the RNC and Trump campaign saw their largest digital fundraising hauls since 2016. According to the Daily Caller: Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee raised upwards of $86 million in February, making it the largest digital fundraising monthly haul since 2016.

Republicans raised more than $3 million per day for the entire month. The campaign has raised more than $600 million since the start of 2019 and currently has more than $225 million cash on hand. According to Monday’s announcement, the campaign has gathered more than 4 million voter contacts this cycle in conjunction with the RNC and authorized joint fundraising committees.

Bernie Sanders also had a record month, raising $46.5 million, which ironically is also great news for...

CDC: 32 Million Americans Ill with Flu This Season, 18,000 Deaths

Although the media are focused on the coronavirus and the two fatalities that have taken place in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), influenza and related pneumonia are widespread across the country.

“CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 32 million flu illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 18,000 deaths from flu,” the CDC’s weekly Influenza Surveillance Report said as of February 22, 2020.

“The percentage of death attributed to pneumonia and influenza is 6.9 percent, below the epidemic threshold of 7.3 percent,” the CDC reported.

Among the deaths are more than 100 children.

“Twenty influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2019-2020 season were reported this week,” the CDC reported. “The total for the season is 125.”

“This number [of pediatric deaths] is higher for the same time period than in every season since reporting began in 2004-05, except for the 2009 pandemic,” the CDC reported.

But overall, flu activity was down, according to the CDC.

“Key indicators that track flu activity remain high but decreased for the second week in a row,” the CDC reported. “Severity indicators (hospitalizations and deaths) remain moderate to low overall, but hospitalization rates differ by age group, with high rates among children and young adults.”

The CDC also released information on the effectiveness of this year’s vaccines.

Interim estimates of 2019-2020 flu vaccine effectiveness were released last week,” the CDC reported. “So far this season, flu vaccines are reducing doctor’s visits for flu illness by 45 percent overall and 55 percent in...
