Dial phone: I saw a made for TV movie where an assasin called a guy with a wall phone with a short cord. He called the guy and shot him through the wall when he answered. He knew where the guy had to be.
I worked my way through college for the phone company in the mid 70s. At first I was changing out wiring so phones could be plugged in to wall outlets. The phones stopped being rotary and were still the same design but with punch numbers. I went to network and was doing cable work.
