Well, its the navy. Historically made up of a bunch of young men that had no problem being isolated from young women for months at a time.
My Father-in-Law was a Naval Officer and when I first went to visit my now wife at her home and he was going on and on about the Navy, this was in the late 70s, I thought "how am I going to shut this guy up".
Just before I left He was still on his Navy rant when I said, "you got to be stupid to float for months at sea with no women or you have to like guys", and He turned bright red and started sputtering, and my now brother-in-law who was standing next to me said "you are right and that is why I got oout as fast as I could."
My Father-in-Law never mentioned the Navy again. It turned out he liked me.
